Project Review : Manila East Lakeview Farms - The Farm Subdivision

Most city dwellers appreciate flowers, plants, gardens and trees. Unfortunately there are not much of these things  too see in the city. People who like to plant or  those with green thumbs, who would want to  do some urban gardening  are limited to using pots and cans, due to lack of space and soil to do planting and gardening.

One type of real estate development  which may solve this problem is the farm/residential  subdivision. This type of subdivision allows people to build their homes and gardens on the same lot that is primarily intended as week-end farms or homes. But most of these type of  subdivision developments are normally located far  from the cities or located in the nearby  provinces.

Recently, one such farm subdivision develorpment was shown to us by a colleague who moonlights as an urban farmer on week-ends. Her family owns a lot  in this farm subdivision and proudly showed us her plants, vegetable gardens and fruit bearing trees. The farm subdivision project  is just an hour drive from Quezon City and is  near the boundaries of Teresa and Binangonan towns in Rizal. Distance-wise it is not far from Metro Manila unlike other farm subdivisions.

The subdivision farm project is called Manila East Lakeview Farms located in Morong, Rizal.

The farm subdivision was developed about ten years ago and many of the farm lots sold were already  planted and developed by their owners. Many of these lot owners built week-end homes in their garden/farm lots, while some owners, particularly retirees, permanently live there. Most of these farm lots are planted with different varieties of " organic"vegetables, flowering plants, fruit bearing trees and hard woods. One resident  has converted his lot into a honey farm. Some of the produce of these farm lots are being bought  by vegetable vendors and supermarkets, making these urban farmers' gardening hobby a profitable endeavor. It is common to see some free range native chickens in some of the farm lots, giving the place an authentic provincial ambiance. Due to the abundance of trees and shrubs, the place abounds with birds. It is really one healthy and  relaxing place to live or do week-end gardening.

What makes the place exceptional is that the farm subdivision is located on a hill over-looking the Laguna de Bay, the towns of Morong, Binangonan,Teresa, part of the Sierra Madre Mountain range and Laguna province. The  average temperature of the place is a few degrees lower compared to  Metro Manila and  surrounding towns.

If  you are dreaming of living in a "green environment", planting and harvesting  in your own vegetable garden, tending you own flower garden and fruit orchards, eating "organic" produce, breathing clean unpolluted air, a beautiful and scenic house location, then Manila East Lakeview Farms is your place.
